Making Connections That Matter in the Armenian Community

Armenian Friendly Visiting Program

What We Do

Armenian Friendly Visiting

To have a strong community and lasting heritage, connecting with others can make all the difference.

Մեր ժառանգությունն ապրում է, երբ կիսվում ենք դրանով.

FriendshipWorks and AWWA have teamed up to bring the Friendly Visiting program to the Armenian community in Greater Boston. Coordinators match older adults with volunteers to visit once a week to share stories over coffee or tea, go for walks, explore traditional recipes, or spend time at church. Over time, both people grow and learn from each other, often becoming great friends.

Visits last for about an hour each week and can include activities that both enjoy doing together including:

  • A friendly chat and sharing stories over a traditional meal
  • Learning a new activity together like gardening or crafts
  • Attending community or church events
  • Trips shopping or to a local coffee shop
  • Any other activity that friends enjoy!

About FriendshipWorks:

Since 1984 Friendship has been working to help older adults and volunteers to remain socially healthy and thriving in the communities of Greater Boston.

All programs are FREE to participants ages 60 and older (55+ for those with vision or hearing loss) living in Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Somerville, and Newton.

Know someone who'd love a visit, or a younger friend who'd love to listen?
