Why FriendshipWorks?
In May 2023, the U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek Murthy issued an advisory on the nation’s epidemic of social isolation and loneliness, and called for more community-based solutions of social connection like FriendshipWorks.
Your support will enable FriendshipWorks to raise critical funding for programs that directly benefit over 1,600 older adults each year, allowing them to stay connected and continue to thrive in neighborhoods all over Boston. Our programs are offered at no charge to participants, and include:
- Friendly Visiting
- Friendly Helping
- Medical Escorts
- PetPals
- MusicWorks
FriendshipWorks is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works to reduce social isolation among older adults in Greater Boston, by matching them with caring volunteers who offer meaningful long-term friendships and emotional support, help with household tasks, and assistance navigating medical appointments.
