Free Webinar: Connection is Vital to Healthy Aging
Do you know someone in the Greater Boston Armenian community who could benefit from learning about the importance of social connection?
Join Giselle Bravo Brown, FriendshipWorks' Armenian Community Friendly Visiting Coordinator, for "Connection Is Vital to Healthy Aging." This free informative online session is presented by the Armenian Women's Welfare Association (AWWA) as part of their series, "No One Should Age Alone."
The U.S. Surgeon General issued an advisory on the epidemic of loneliness and social isolation, reporting that social connection is as critical to our health and well-being as food, water, and shelter. Over one-third of older adults in Boston live alone or are separated from their families, leading to feelings of loneliness and social isolation.
Attendees of "Connection is Vital to Healthy Aging" will learn how FriendshipWorks is working to address this issue through our Friendly Visiting program that brings older adults and volunteers together for friendship, assistance, and emotional support. The program is available at no cost to adults ages 60 and older (55+ for those with vision or hearing loss).
